The 2018 Community Celebration was our best yet! With 21 booths, many contests, games, prizes, 7 brand new bikes raffled off, a fantastic watermelon eating contest, a dance off, and so much more we had almost 500 people in attendance. Thank you to our sponsors and to all who participated!
For almost a decade on the second Saturday of August, the Community Celebration event in Underhill Park has marked the end of Spokane Eastside Reunion Association’s (SERA) basketball camp and celebrated the wonderful East Central Neighborhood. It was the first time organizing the Community Celebration for our event organizer Karen Sutula and her team (JJ, Veronica, Gabby, Ella, Nature, Alaska, and Greg). They learned so much from last year’s event and plan to expand the Community Celebration even more this year with new team members Marco, Sarah, and Jose. The 2019 Community Celebration Event will be on August 10th from 12pm to 4pm in Underhill Park.
The past 12 months the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association continues to grow by leaps and bounds. The opening of our restaurant, Fresh Soul marked start of our job training program and expanded the scope of our organization. The restaurant has provided more ways for SERA to build up and support the East Central and Spokane communities than we even dreamed. Our tutoring center provides educational support to many children through the guidance of our new director, Catherine and tutors from Eastern Washington University and Gonzaga University. Our basketball camp is slated to be best yet with the all the new community partnerships we’ve started and with the help of our elementary and middle schools. This is an exciting time and we hope you will be a part of it.
At this year’s Community Celebration, we will offer free hot dogs, drinks, and a bag of chips for each attendee as well as opportunities for raffle prizes, games for all ages, and activities for children at each of our business and organization tables. This will be an excellent opportunity to showcase your business or organization to the people of Spokane.

We ask that you provide an activity or give-away for the children attending the event – carnival type games or crafts are encouraged.
